Narayana churna is a mixture of 26 types of herbal powder along with 5 types of salt and kshara used mainly in digestive and respiratory system related health problems.

Indication: Ascitis, flatulence, constipation, piles, fissure in ano, indigestion, loss of appetite, fistula in ano, anemia, cough, asthma, heart diseases, skin diseases, loss of appetite, fever and in the management of poison.

Dose :  2 to 5 grams, twice daily before or after food before or after food as directed by physician.

Adjuvent( anupana): Along with buttermilk in ascitis, badara decoction in gulma(abdominal distention), with sura(wine) in flatulence, along with prasanna( type of wine) in vataja diseases, pomegranate juice in piles,  vrakshamla juice(coccum) in fissure in ano,  curd water in constipation, in indigestion taken with warm water.

Side effects: Heavy dose may induce increased loose stools and gastritis.

used with caution in hypertensive  patients as it contain salt.

Ayurvedic properties of Narayana churna:

Roga karma: Udara, gulma, anaha, vataroga, vibanda, arsha, parikartika, ajeerna, bhagandara, pandu, kasa, shwasa, galagraha, hrithroga, grahani, kushta, mandagni, jwara, damstra visha, moola visha, gara visha and krithrima visha.

Dosha karma: Tridoshahara, especially kaphavatahara.

Agni karma: Deepana, pachana.

Other karma:  Vatanulomaka, mrudu rechaka, lekhana, shulahara and srotoshodhana.

Manufacturers: Baidyanath, Vaidyaratnam oushadhasala, Arya Vaidya Sala Kottakkal.
