Punarnavadi Kashayam is a concentrated decoction prepared out of herbal ingredients, which consist of water soluble active principles.
Indication: Used in the management of ascites, edema, cough, colicky pain, breathlessness and anemia.
Dose : Kashayam 5 – 15 ml diluted with 15 – 45 ml of water twice daily before food or as directed by physician. Tablets 1 to 2 tablets twice daily.
Side effects: No known side effects, over dose may induce gastric irritation. Use this medicine under medical supervision.

Method of preparation of Kashayam: Herbal ingredients (coarse powder) 1 part boiled in 16 parts of water and reduced to 4 part.
Method of Storage: Stored in airtight container in dry place.
Ayurvedic Properties of Punarnavadi Kashayam:
Roga karma: Sarvangashotha, udara, kasa, shula, shwasa and pandu.
Dosha karma: Tridoshahara mainly kaphapittahara.
Agni karma: Deepana and pachana.

I have been prescribed for having my stomach size increased, I am presently undergoing menopause, When I consume the “kashayam” as prescribed by my physician I feel like burning sensation in both legs especially below the knees and thighs, I stopped consuming. I would like to know will it be of any other symptom? shall I continue consuming the Kashayam ? please give me a response at the earliest.

The ingredients of Punarnavadi kashayam is safe to use, but in the long use the ingredient shunti(Ginger) may produce burning sensation in sensitive pitta prakruti persons. To come to conclusion about your health related issue still more evaluation is needed.
